#SecondChance is a window into the lived patient experience of illness and how they are able to cope with it. Veronica Kenneally, Rosie McCormack and Stephen Hosty are able to cope mainly because of their strength of character and determination to face down disease. But that process has been aided, too, by medical innovation – treatments discovered and developed by teams of scientists in life sciences companies who pour lots of time and money into research and development. We wanted to make real the story of medical innovation. The human impact of innovation. And to make the point too that by giving patients access to innovative medicines we can make a real difference in their lives. We need to get better at that in Ireland because, right now, we are slow to get the best treatments into the healthcare system. Irish patients deserve better. More of them can be like Veronica, Rosie and Stephen.
