29th September 2010 - IPHA Lunchtime Lecture - Progress and future plans for the integration of hospital and community-based services in Ireland
Mr Damien McCallion, Director of the HSE National Integration Programme, delivered the second lecture in the 2010 IPHA Lunchtime Lecture Series on Wednesday, 29th September 2010 which was attended by over 60 members. In his presentation Mr McCallion focused on the “Service Delivery Model” which seeks to integrate services at a local level under “National Programmes of Care”. He identified 20 programmes of care which have been established with Clinical Leads appointed. They include joint initiatives with the academic colleges and are focused on the implementation of solutions in 2011.

15th April 2010 - IPHA Lunchtime Lecture - The significant challenge of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer, particularly among an ageing population
Mr Tony O’Brien, Interim Director, National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) delivered the first lecture in the 2010 IPHA Lunchtime Lecture Series on Thursday, 15th April 2010. In his presentation Mr O’Brien discussed the background to the NCCP (i.e. Strategy for Cancer Control) and its roll out (i.e. structural and conceptual change supported by a strong evidence-base to back it up). In particular he focussed on three case studies in breast cancer, rectal cancer and lung cancer to illustrate the recent successes in managing cancer care effectively in Ireland to increase positive patient outcomes.

18th June 2009 - The Development of Nurse and Midwife Prescribing and the Impact it will have on Med
Dr Siobhan O’ Halloran, Nursing Services Director, and Ms Maureen Flynn, Assistant Nursing Services Director, with the Health Service Executive, gave a presentation on development of nurse and midwife prescribing and the impact it will have on medical services, in particularly in the primary care setting.

15th January 2009 - The Evolving Role of the Primary, Community and Continuing Care Sector
Ms Laverne McGuinness, National Director of Primary Community and Continuing Care (PCCC) in the Health Service Executive, will speak about the evolving Primary Community and Continuing care sector and the development of Primary Care Teams in Ireland.
