The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) in conjunction with the Irish Pharmacy Union highlighted the safe use of pain relievers and the problems associated with their overuse or abuse. In particular, people were advised to speak to their pharmacist on the appropriate use of codeine, which is contained in a wide range of pain relievers and available from pharmacies without a prescription.
