2009 - Delivering a healthier society in the decade ahead
Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) President Dr Gerald Farrell, speaking to representatives of the key health stakeholders, including the Department of Health and Children, the Health Service Executive, the various professional bodies and the pharmaceutical industry stated that there is a need to change the debate on healthcare expenditure if real progress is to be made in healthcare delivery in the decade ahead. Other speakers at the meeting included Mr Sandy Johnston, PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Dr Eibhlín Connolly, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health and Children; Dr Kathleen Bennett, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Trinity Centre for Health Sciences, St James’s Hospital; Dr Ian Banks, President of Men’s Health Forum Europe; Mr John Church, Arthritis Ireland and Mr Shaun Flanagan, Corporate Pharmaceutical Unit, Health Service Executive.

2008 - Medicines and the Challenges Ahead
At the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting, IPHA President Dr Gerald Farrell acknowledged that it has been the willingness of successive Irish Governments to take the long-term view and to work creatively with the pharmaceutical industry, which has delivered so much for Irish patients and the Irish economy over the past forty years. Speakers included Mr Pat O'Mahony, Chief Executive, Irish Medicines Board; Mr Seamus Feely, Secretary General, Irish Pharmacy Union; Dr John Donohue, President, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland; Ms Jane Suiter. Author, Journalist, Economist; Prof Charles Normand, Edward Kennedy Chair in Health Policy and Management, Trinity College; Mr Ross Hattaway, Corporate Pharmaceutical Unit, Health Service Executive.

2007 - Ensuring Innovation Delivers
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting heard that while mechanisms to assess value for money in the health services are welcome they must not be such as to result in bureaucratic delays or even worse deny patients access to new medicines. Speakers included Mr Patrick Flochel, Global Pharmaceutical Leader, Ernst & Young; Mr Pat O'Mahony, Chief Executive, Irish Medicines Board; Mr John McCormack, Chief Executive Officer, Irish Cancer Society ; Dr Bernadette Carr, Medial Director, VHI Healthcare and Prof Kamal Sabra, Head of the Corporate Pharmaceutical Unit, Health Service Executive.

2006 - Pharma Ireland: Reaching Our Full Potential
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting heard that the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland would have to move up the value chain if Ireland was to remain a key location for the pharmaceutical industry into the future. Speakers included Professor Des Fitzgerald, Chairman of the Health Research Board, Dr Leonora Bishop, IDA Ireland; Prof Kamal Sabra, HSE Corporate Pharmaceutical Unit; Dr Michael Barry, National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics; Mr Pat O’Mahony, Irish Medicines Board and Ms Trudy Granby, National Prescribing Centre in the UK.

2005 - The Search for Innovative Solutions in Irish Healthcare
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting was addressed by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheàl Martin, TD and included sessions on the role of innovation in delivering effective healthcare, trends in pharmaceutical re-imbursement strategies across Europe and the importance of harnessing innovation for patient care. Speakers included Dr Brendan Buckley of UCC; Professor Dermot Kelleher, Professor of Clinical Medicine at TCD and member of the Health Research Board. Ms Frances Charlesworth, Director of Global Government Affairs and Policy, AstraZeneca.

2004 - The Delivery of Medicines in a Changing World: Challenges for the Pharmaceutical Industry
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meetings on 'The Delivery of Medicines in a Changing World: Challenges for the Pharmaceutical Industry' held on Thursday 25th November 2004 heard new IPHA President Conn Clissmann state that solutions to our health problems are varied but that medicines were part of the solution and not, as some might see it, part of the problem.

The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting was held at the Radisson Hotel on Friday 14th November.

2002 - Challenges in Healthcare : Quality, accountability and value for money
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) Annual Meeting was held this year on Friday 15th November at The Radisson Hotel. The theme of this year's meeting was "Challenges in Healthcare : Quality, accountability and value for money", among the speakers taking part was Mr Vincent Sheridan, Chief Executive, VHi Healthcare, Mr David O'Flanagan, Deloitte & Touche and Authors of the Value for Money Audit, Mr Brian Sweeney, Chairman of the Irish Health Accreditation Board and Mr Chris Fitzgerald, Health Promotion Unit, Department of Health & Children.
